Oscars 2025: Here Are This Year's Nominees
'The Brutalist,' 'Conclave,' 'Anora,' and 'A Complete Unknown' are among this year's surefire contenders.
After several pushbacks, the 2025 class of Oscars nominees have been revealed with Emilia Pérez, The Brutalist, and Wicked leading the way.
Thursday’s nominees announcement, co-hosted by Rachel Sennott (Saturday Night) and Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), marks a delay from the initially scheduled unveiling due to the devastating fires in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. As of this writing, at least 28 people have died due to fires in the region, while thousands of structures have been destroyed. Here's how you can help those affected.
“Our members always share how important it is for us to come together as a community, and we are determined to use this opportunity to celebrate our resilient and compassionate industry,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a joint statement this month. “We also look forward to honoring our frontline workers who have aided with the fires, recognizing those impacted, and encouraging people to join the Academy in supporting the relief efforts. We will get through this together and bring a sense of healing to our global film community.”
Emilia Pérez lead all movies with 13 nominations while The Brutalist and Wicked both snagged 10 nods. All three were nominated for Best Picture.
Focus Features stands to potentially bag its first-ever Best Picture win with Conclave, which some predictions-prone Oscars deep-divers have long speculated as a lock.
The new body horror gem The Substance, anchored by a pair of performances from co-leads Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, also stands to likely shake up that category. Directed by Coralie Fargeat, the movie is unlike anything else released in the 2025 eligibility window, and manages to pack an undeniable punch while also establishing (and deconstructing) an unsettling tone only made possible by a largely practical effects-focused production.

The 97th Oscars are set for March 2 on ABC and Hulu. This year’s host is Conan O’Brien, marking his first time in the Academy gig.
